3 defining characteristics of the STOTT Pilates method

I trained in STOTT Pilates. I was recommended ten years ago in London when I was already dabbling with the idea that if I trained as a Pilates teacher I should do so with this school. I was very happy to discover that Akrostudio provided STOTT Pilates training in Spain. So onwards I went!

STOTT Pilates is:

1. The contemporary approach to the original Pilates method

2. Based on modern principles of exercise science and rehabilitation

3. Comprised of 5 basic principles, which are focussed on the following:

  • Breathing

  • Pelvic placement

  • Rib cage placement

  • Scapular movement and stabilisation

  • Head and cervical placement

Incidentally, Mr Pilates likes a bit of structure. The original six principles of Pilates, back in the day, were concentration, control, centre, flow, precision and breathing.
